What is Schroth?
The Schroth Method is a non-invasive, evidence-based approach to treating scoliosis and other spinal disorders. Developed by Katharina Schroth in the early 20th century and further refined over the years, this method uses specific exercises tailored to the individual’s spinal curvature to restore muscular symmetry, improve posture, and enhance overall spinal alignment. It is a three-dimensional approach that focuses on breathing techniques, posture correction, and core strengthening to reduce the progression of scoliosis and minimize its impact on daily life.

When is Schroth recommended?
- Adolescent Idiopathic scoliosis
- Adult onset scoliosis
- Postural imbalances
- Other spinal disorders such as Kyphosis, hyper-lordosis, Sheuermann’s
- Pre-surgery, post-surgery recovery and for those where surgery is not indicated
What are the Goals of the Schroth Method?
- Reduce curve progression and stabilize the spine.
- Improve posture and alignment by restoring muscular balance.
- Enhance respiratory function through targeted breathing exercises.
- Build core strength and flexibility.
- Educate patients on self-management techniques for long-term spinal health
What should you expect from treatment sessions?

Initial Evaluation
60-90 min
Includes postural assessments, review of radiographs, comprehensive history, scoliometer measurements other orthopedic tests. Foundational postural correction education.
Reassessments provided periodically to show progress.

Schroth Program
10-20, 60 min sessions
Based on your individual curves you will learn a specific set of exercises that focus on axial elongation, postural correction and breathing that will serve as your toolkit for your curve management.
Intensive programs can be arranged for those traveling and / or for adolescents with restricted school schedule.

Beyond+
60 min
Once program completed, it is recommended to continue with treatment to practice more advanced exercises and integration into other activities based on patient goals such as strength training and pilates.
