Schroth Therapy is a specialized, evidence-based physical therapy approach for treating scoliosis and other spinal conditions such as hyper kyphosis. It uses customized, 3D curve-specific exercises to:

  • Improve spinal alignment
  • Reduce pain and muscle imbalance
  • Enhance postural awareness
  • Improve breathing mechanics
  • Support long-term curve management

Schroth Therapy is appropriate for children, adolescents, and adults and is always individualized based on the patient’s spinal pattern.

Adult scoliosis is not static. Over time, spinal curves can progress, degenerate, or become more symptomatic due to aging, disc changes, muscle imbalance, or postural habits.

Schroth Therapy helps adults by:

  • Addressing curve progression and postural collapse
  • Reducing pain
  • Improving alignment and movement efficiency
  • Enhancing strength and spinal support
  • Teaching self-correction strategies for daily life

Many adults seek Schroth Therapy to manage symptoms, maintain function, and slow structural changes in the spine.

During growth, scoliosis curves are at the highest risk for progression. Schroth Therapy is especially important for adolescents because it:

  • Helps reduce the risk of curve progression
  • Improves postural awareness during growth
  • Teaches active self-correction strategies
  • Supports bracing when prescribed
  • Builds strength and confidence in movement

Adolescents learn how to recognize and correct their posture, empowering them toactively participate in their spinal health.

Scoliosis is a complex, three-dimensional spinal condition that requires specialized training beyond what is taught in general physical therapy programs to treat effectively. A Schroth physical therapist is trained to assess your individual spinal curves, rotation and alignment, rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach.

At The Move PT, Dr. Nehal is certified as an Advanced Schroth Physical Therapist, with specialized training in scoliosis-specific care. This allows for safer, more precise and effective treatment to manage curve progression, support posture, function, pain management, and long-term spinal health for both adolescents and adults.

Pilates-based rehabilitation is a physical therapy–guided approach that integrates core control, alignment, breath, and precision. It is used to:

  • Improve spinal stability and posture
  • Build strength without excessive strain
  • Support injury recovery
  • Improve movement efficiency
  • Reduce risk of future injury

All exercises are therapeutic, individualized, and supervised by a licensed physical therapist.
