Pilates @ The Move

Why Pilates?

Postural alignment & balance

Pilates places an emphasis on postural alignment via strengthening the muscles that support the spine and encouraging core stabilization throughout the session. This builds excellent body awareness that you carry throughout the day and enhances balance.

Functional mobility

Pilates is not about stretching which is a common misconception. Rather, it focuses on dynamic movements that build strength across a joint’s full range of motion, thus building flexibility increased range of motion and strength simultaneously.

Full body strength and stability

The Pilates method recruits muscle groups large and small to first stabilize then initiate movement against the resistance of the springs. It is a unique modality in that regard teaching control and stability in movement while achieving strength gains.

Integrate body, mind & breath

The mental focus and breathing techniques used in Pilates help to calm the mind, recruit appropriate muscles, improve circulation and provide an “inner rhythm” that improves movement and helps modulate pain.
